2017 was a big year of races for me. Not that a ran a ton of races, I only ran three (plus a fun run) and I ran a couple more races in 2016 and 2015. But I got a new half marathon PR and ran my first full marathon. So here’s a round up of my races from 2017!
This was my first race of the year and it was a great way to kick off my racing year! I used a heart rate training program and got a 10 minute PR, plus it gave me something to keep my mind off the fact that my wedding was quickly approaching.
Four months after the Lake Minnetonka Half, I ran my second race of the year. This was my longest race distance to that point (although not my longest run) and I used it as a prep race for the Twin Cities Marathon.
This is what sprinting across the finish line of your first marathon looks like. At mile 23, I was feeling it. I was walking more than running. Everything hurt and I was soaking wet. But I knew I wanted to run across the finish line. At mile 26, I started running. And then, as the finish line was in sight, two guys came roaring past me. And I started sprinting and leaving it all out on the course.
And rounding out my races in 2017 was the Twin Cities Marathon! My first marathon and my A race for the year.
Six days after the Twin Cities Marathon, I was back out and running! Mike and I love the Brewery Running Series runs.
How did your 2017 race season go? Let me know in the comments!
