Oatmeal Runner Reviews...Naturebox

Mike and I have been subscribers to Naturebox since March 2014, the same time I started Couch to 5K for the final time. I don’t know if one influenced the other, but I’ve been running and receiving a box of snacks monthly ever since then!

What is Naturebox? It’s a monthly snack subscription service with over 100 different snack choices (and new ones getting added all the time) plus the ability to order additional snacks. We have the deluxe plan (5 snacks once a month) but you can chose the number of snacks per month (3, 5 or 10) and delivery frequency (once a week, every two weeks or once a month) with the per snack price being cheaper the more you get.

Mike and I have found that five snacks a month are perfect for the two of us. Depending on what’s in the box and how we’re feeling snacking-wise, we might have snacks left when our next box comes but we haven’t found them to go bad at all. Even if we’ve already opened them, the resealable packages work really well on keeping everything fresh.

Since I’m adding in more snacks to meet my macro goals during marathon training, I’ve found Naturebox snacks to be the perfect addition to fit into the puzzle. You can pick and choose what you get or have them send you snacks based on your snack scale. Whichever way you choose, I love knowing that all of the snacks are made without artificial ingredients, high fructose corn syrup or hydrogenated oils. Plus, if we end up not liking a snack (which hasn’t happened yet) they’ll add a store credit to our account to replace it the next month!

Now, the hardest part is deciding which snacks are my favorite. I know Mike has his own opinions (most of them on the spicy side) I go towards the sweet side. And the special seasonal treats (aka all the Pumpkin Spice NomNoms during the fall). But here are my favorites from the last couple of boxes we’ve gotten:

  • Whole Wheat Strawberry Figgy Bars

  • Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites

  • Honey Dijon Pretzels

  • Cashew Crumble (seriously, this is the most addicting snack ever)

  • Chocolate Chia Granola

Since I was already on the website, I decided to pick out what’s coming in our August box. I put in some favorites we haven’t had in awhile (hello Garlic Plantains and Crispy Snickerdoodles), something new (Mocha Almond Bars and Double Chocolate Brownie Cookies) and a fruity treat (Dried Mango). It’s such an easy process, I usually start with the new items and work my way down the different categories until I’ve filled my pantry (plus a couple extra just in case something runs out).

If you’d like to try Naturebox for yourself, I do have a referral link that currently gives you (and me) $20 in free snacks. This is the equivalent of getting your first month free if you go for the 5 snacks once a month option like we do! If you do end up trying out Naturebox, I’d love to hear what you think about it.
