Now that I’m getting back into marathon training, I’m finding myself gravitating towards quick meals during the week. We still cook a meal or two during the week but I’ve been digging into the Luvo meals I won from #BibChat at the end of December more. It’s super convenient to grab a meal from the freezer for work or dinner and heat it up. Especially if I didn’t pre-portion out leftovers the night before.
One thing I really enjoy with Luvo meals is how much extra vegetables I get in while eating one. I’m really trying to get in extra vegetables during marathon training and this was the most convenient way to get them in! And each dish had a great variety of vegetables so I felt like I was really getting in a lot of different kinds.
I got mostly vegetarian or vegan meals with my delivery which introduced me to a new way of eating. Now, I’m not going full vegetarian anytime soon (because I love my meat still) but it was great to experiment with meat-free meals without having to cook them myself. If I had picked them out myself, I probably wouldn’t have leaned this way so it was great to get out of my comfort zone.
Everything was delicious that I got (although I’ve still got a couple I have tried yet). Some of them are a little bit harder to fit in my macros for the day because the vegan/vegetarian ones I got were about 10g of protein and anywhere between 7-15g of fat. They were higher carb (which loved because it’s hard to get in enough high quality carbs for marathon training) but I prefer to have more protein in my meals and had to supplement with greek yogurt.
I don’t know if I’ll be ordering anytime soon because it’s more expensive than grocery shopping (if I had paid for my meals it would have been $100 for 16 meals) but I love these so much! If they were available in stores, I’d definitely been adding them in on a regular basis.
