2017 Running in Review

Now that 2017 is over, I thought I’d do a quick recap of my running for last year. 2017 was an amazing year of running for me, although it had some ups and downs. I ran three races, which is my lowest since I started running in 2014, but I feel like I made the most progress. I PR’d my half and ran my first marathon (catching the marathon bug in the process).

I think the most fun thing to see is the change from heart rate training for my half (January through early May) to marathon training (late May through early September) and then finishing off the year with a short off-season. My pace and mileage really picked up with marathon training and I kept it up through the end of the year.

Mileage: 1, 344

Average pace: 11:11 minutes per mile

Longest run: 26.7 miles (Twin Cities Marathon)

Average run length: 5.6 miles

Average days run per week: 4.6 days

Time of day run: 53% a.m./47% p.m. (a pretty even split thanks to early morning Wednesday runs!)
