February was such a better month for running than January. Not only was it somewhat warmer (we did get up into the 40s by the end of the month) but I got a new 5K PR at the Valentine’s Day TC 5K! Which meant I’ve officially reached one of my goals for 2018.
Plus I’m getting deep into marathon training as I hit two 40+ mile weeks at the end. I’m feeling a lot stronger than at the same distance for Twin Cities Marathon training, which I can tell when comparing my long run times. I still can’t believe I took ten minutes off my 17 mile run last week and I wasn’t feeling horrible at the end. I can still remember last year’s 18 mile run that I got horrible leg cramps for the last three miles.
My other fitness goal left (besides a sub-five hour marathon) is doing yoga once a week. Which I’ve done except for the one week where I was sick with the flu. So I’m not counting that as a failure just because I missed one week.. In fact I’m pretty proud that I’ve kept it up so consistently.
Read 12 books in 2018: I finished three books in February (although I was almost done with The Last Tudor at the end of January). I also finished Beneath the Sugar Sky and The Lost Tudor Princess (which was my audiobook on runs) in February. Currently, I’m reading The Good Girl, which I’m about halfway through, and listening to Rawblood on my runs. So I should finish another three books in March too!
Knit 52 squares on my scrap blanket: I’ve finished eight squares so far (with a ninth over halfway done). I’ve also started a new square every Monday night while Mike is at bowling and it’s been a great way to wind down.
Meditate daily for at least 5 minutes: I’ve been meditating daily for all of 2018 so far! I haven’t upped my time yet to ten minutes but five is feeling just perfect right now.
