May has come and gone, along with the last two races on my calendar for 2018! At least we didn’t have the snow like in April but it got hot (including a stretch of 90+ degree days).
The two big highlights of May were the two races: the Eau Claire Marathon and Stillwater Half Marathon. I got a new marathon PR at Eau Claire and a course PR at Stillwater. Plus I got the experience my first race-cation and re-running my first half.
I’ve had so much fun training for these races but I’m also glad my training is loosening up a little without any races on my calendar. I’m already feeling a lot more relaxed on my runs and not paying (as much) attention to my paces.
One other thing I’m enjoying this month is my early morning runs. Not only am I avoiding running in the extreme heat we’ve been having but these runs are a lot more peaceful. There’s not that many people out but the birds are. It’s so much fun running at sunrise and hearing all the bird songs.
