I’ve been waiting to write this for a while and I’m still in disbelief that I’m able to write this. But our family is growing! We’re thrilled that in early August, we’ll welcome baby Thiel to the family. Even though we’ve known since late November, it still doesn’t quite feel real that we are going to be parents.
I’ll be 11 weeks on Monday and we also have our first ultrasound scheduled for that afternoon. But we got to hear the baby’s heartbeat yesterday at our first midwife appointment and it was amazing. Especially when she went between mine and the baby’s because of how much faster it is (170 bpm!).
So far, I’ve been feeling pretty good. Most of the time, I’m just really tired (thank goodness for naps on the weekends and going to bed early all the time) and bloated. I’ve had on and off nausea but nothing too bad (except for about 36 hours the weekend after Christmas). It’s already a little bit difficult getting comfortable when sleeping but I’ve got a body pillow now that should make it a little easier (especially since I’m waking about 3-4 times during the night). I’m just grateful that I haven’t been feeling horrible this whole time.
And I’m still running and working out, just not the same as usual! I’m really trying to be careful about not overdoing it on days that I’m feeling good because I’ve found that leads to me being completely wiped out the next day. So my runs have been shorter on the weekends and slower overall because I’m getting out of breath going too fast. I’ve also been doing a shorter strength training workout on Mondays and going easier in spin class just to avoid exhausting myself.
Be on the lookout for some more pregnancy related posts in the future! It won’t be all baby, all the time on Oatmeal Runner but pregnancy will be coming up regularly because it’s a huge thing we are going through. And I’m so excited to share parts of this journey and how it relates to running, workout out and living a healthy lifestyle!
